New London - North Lake Recreation Facility

North Lake has become a destination stop for all with access to SUBASEIt is the "Cool" place to hang out and escape the heat of SummerNorth Lake is normally open the second weekend in June (weather permitting), then opens daily the 3rd weekend in June through Labor Day.

North Lake is home of the WIBIT a large inflatable obstacle course that floats on top of the water in the deep-end of the lake (NoteWIBIT may have limited opening pre-season and late in the season, due to weather, etc)

  • Open Daily = 1200-1650.
  • Private Command/Personal Reservations are available. Offered Daily = 1100-1150. Reservation must be made ahead of time, no same day reservations accepted.
  • Fees do apply, per 20-minute sessions.
  • No Cash Accepted. Credit/Debit & Contactless Payment Only.
  • Subject to daily closures as necessary in conjunction with North Lake policy guidelines.

 

Other amenities include:

  • Man-made chlorinated lake with American Red Cross (ARC) certified lifeguards
  • Beautiful well groomed and maintained sandy beach
  • Large size pavilion with picnic tables (can be reserved for private events please call the Marina)
  • Indoor shower house and changing area
  • Lifeguard on duty (no guard = no swimming)
  • Horseshoe pits
  • Volleyball court
  • Chaise lounge chairs available for rent
  • Cabanas with chaise lounge chairs and tables are available for rent.

 

Basic rules:

  • Swimming without a MWR Lifeguard on duty is strictly prohibited.
  • All patrons are required to sign in at entrance on the daily log upon entering.
  • No tents, sports-brellas, cabanas, pavilions, tarps, etc. are allowed on the beach or within the fenced area.  Small umbrellas and baby tents are permitted behind the Lifeguard chairs.
  • No glass containers or pets are permitted at the lake at any time
  • Children who cannot swim must be under the direct supervision of an adult (18years old & older) at all times, including in the water. Direct supervision is being within arm’s reach of your child.
  • Children who cannot swim are only permitted to stay in the shallow end of the lake.  Children 17 & younger and sailors in SUBSCOL must demonstrate the ability to pass the swim test to be granted access to the deep end.
  • Parents of children (17 & younger) are presumed to have certified that their children are capable swimmers prior to their admission to North Lake. Children using the Aquatic facilities are presumed to have parental consent.
  • Patrons must be at least 10 years old and able to pass the swim test to be left unattended at the lake. Children 10-17, if left unattended must demonstrate the ability to pass the North Lake swim test.
  • US Coast Guard certified personal flotation devices are permitted for use in the shallow end only. Direct supervision is required at all times.
  • Children 17 years of age and younger must take a brief swim test to swim in the deep end of the lake (this includes Subscol sailors).
  • Single size personal floats are permitted in the deep end of the lake.
  • Check with lifeguards for WIBIT rules.
  • All other rules and regulations are posted on signs around the facility.
